School Vouchers

Another major source of pain for me in this country is education.  I am outraged at the media and the liberal politicians that oppose school choice. This is the worse form of hypocracy I have ever run across.  You see, as well meaning as liberals are, you would think that school choice would be at the top of their agenda.  It simply shows what phonies they are, starting with our new president elect. Instead doing what is best for our children, they would prefer to pander to the ultra left wing teacher's union.  This is critical to the liberal politician.  As most educators are very left wing, (I know this as a ex-teacher)  the unions decide what is best for the teachers, not the students.  
I am very lucky.  My three sons lived in a district where while the teachers are mostly liberal, the education is really pretty good.  I reviewed their text books, and even their histroy books are not too bad.  I found myself correcting a few things for my sons, so they have the right perspective, but as a whole, not too bad.  Others are not so fortunate.  Have any of you seen what goes on in districts where the schools are not up to speed?  Like the Chicago Public Schools?   I find it amazing that President-Elect Obama choose the Chicago Superintendant to run our Department of Education.  Good heavens, I could not think of a worse choice, as the Chicago schools are among the absolute worse in the country.
 
Anyway, as we all pay taxes for schools, yes, even those in lousy school districts, why can't parents send their kids wherever they want to, using a voucher supplied to them?  Watch schools improve!!!  The teacher unions hate this, because it threatens them.  Now they must perform, and their jobs are based on how well they teach, not what the union can hold up the taxpayers for.  Now to be fair, there are many, many good teachers that would do a great job no matter what the circumstances. Most are dedicated and have the student's best interest at heart.  These teachers would be handsomely rewarded in a voucher system.  Why should they not make a better salary and benefits  if they perform better?  Let the market prevail!
 
Liberals cringe at this.  With the support of the teacher's unions, the teachers then promote liberal, damagaing agenda in the schools, raising good little liberals as they grow up.  I believe a citizen has a right to a good education, but at the same token it is a privaledge.  If a student does his work and follows the rules, he/she has a right to go to any school that will accept them.

Good Afternoon, Blog readers,
 
I have always wanted to start my own blog, maybe just a forum to get things off my chest.  The first topic that always irritates me is the tax system.  I am afraid we will never get real change in the system.  In order to do so, we will need polititians with real courage, as we had during the start of our incredibly fantastic country.  There were no income taxes in those days, and we had to pass a constitutional amendment to get one!  Heck, we even revolted over a tea tax worth a few cents.  I have studied all methods of tax relief and have come to one conclusion and cannot understand why the conservatives do not embrace this.  Help me experts!
 
Why not the fair tax?  It will certainly generate every bit as much revenue as we do now with our horribly punishing system and al so give some distinct and wonderful advantages.  Here is what I see.
 
1.  Low income families will be able to take care of themselves instead of government social programs. 
2.  Even though I am not a fan of social security, it would be saved.
3. Citizens will pay a fair share of taxes, but those strapped can choose to spend less and get automatic relief.
4. Illegal aliens....(yes that is exactly what they are, let's stop sugar coating it) will have to pay the tax and not get ANY relief.  Only citizens
    would be allowed rebates.
5. Foreign visitors would pay the tax as they use our goods and services.  Why not?  WE pay for theirs!
6. Crinminals cannot hide income anymore.  If they buy, they pay, too. 
7. Money would only be taxed once and fairly.
 
I encourage all of you to read about the fair tax.  We waste billions of dollars on tax lawyers who do nothing to promote our economuy.  We also allow our government to take away our freedoms that our forefathers faought and died for!!!  Can you say IRS?  Guilty until proven innocent?   All to support left wing programs.  Let's be the party of real change.  Let's start with the tax code, and really push this. Let's get educated.
